CONGLETON MACCLESFIELD CANAL Bridge No 63 at SJ 88546521

GV II Accommodation bridge. c1827. William Crosley engineer. Coursed tooled sandstone blocks with ashlar dressings. Horseshoe arch (eliptical head) with voussoirs and a prominent (stressed) keystone that connects with a chamfered ashlar band beneath the parapet. Battered walls terminate in squared piers: coping to parapet. One in a series of fine bridges (and milestones) on the Macclesfield Canal.
