Description

Bridge Number 62 on the Macclesfield Canal is an accommodation bridge built around 1830, designed by engineer William Crosley. It is constructed from coursed sandstone blocks with ashlar dressings. The bridge features a horseshoe or elliptical arch made of voussoirs, with a prominent keystone that rises to a chamfered band just below the parapet. The battered walls end in square piers, and the parapet has coping. There is also a partial survival of cobbles or setts.
