Description

The distance marker for the Macclesfield Canal, dating from around 1827, is made of ashlar sandstone and features a shaped head. The west face of the marker displays the number "3/4," while the east face shows "1/2." The numbers are highlighted by being enclosed in a painted rectangle. This marker is part of a series of distance markers, milestones, and bridges along the Macclesfield Canal.
