Description

The Macclesfield Canal distance marker, dating from around 1830, was created for the Macclesfield Canal Company. This marker is made of ashlar sandstone and features a shaped top. The south side is inscribed with "1 /2" while the north face has "3/4" inscribed. It is part of a notable series of milestones and distance markers, as well as bridges, along the Macclesfield Canal.
