Description

The Macclesfield Canal distance marker, dating from around 1830, was created for the Macclesfield Canal Company. It is made of ashlar sandstone and features a shaped top. The south side of the marker is inscribed with "1 /2". This distance marker is part of a notable series of milestones and distance markers, as well as bridges, along the Macclesfield Canal.
