Description

Canal Bridge No. 87 is a road bridge that carries Station Road over the Macclesfield Canal, built around 1827 by William Crosley. The bridge is constructed from yellow sandstone coursed rubble with ashlar dressings. It features a single span with a horseshoe arch made of voussoirs and a prominent keystone that connects to a band below the parapet. The walls are battered on either side, and there are curved retaining walls that end in square piers. The top of the parapet is finished with chamfered coping.
