Description

The Macclesfield Canal distance marker, dating from around 1830, is made of shaped ashlar sandstone. It features an inscription of "3/1" on the southeast face and "1/2" on the northwest face. This marker is part of a notable series of milestones and distance markers, as well as bridges, along the Macclesfield Canal.
