Description

The distance marker, dating from around 1830, was created for the Macclesfield Canal Company. It is made of shaped ashlar sandstone and features inscriptions on both its north and south faces, with "3/4" on the north side and "1/2" on the south side. This marker is part of a notable series of milestones and distance markers, as well as bridges, along the Macclesfield Canal.
