Description

This canal milestone, dating from around 1830, was created for the Macclesfield Canal Company. It is made of ashlar sandstone and features a shaped top. The north face is inscribed with "From/Hall Green/10 1/4 Miles," while the south face reads "From /Marple/ 16 Miles." This milestone is part of a notable series of milestones and distance markers, as well as bridges, along the Macclesfield Canal.
