Description
Bridge number 69 on the Macclesfield Canal is an accommodation bridge built around 1827, designed by engineer William Crosley. It is constructed from coursed sandstone blocks with ashlar dressings. The bridge features a horseshoe arch with an elliptical head made of voussoirs, and the keystone is stressed. Below the parapet, there is a chamfered band, and the battered walls end in squared piers. The coping of the parapet is unchamfered. This bridge is part of a series of fine bridges and mileposts that remain on the Macclesfield Canal.
