Description
Bridge Number 72 on the Macclesfield Canal is an accommodation bridge built around 1827. It is constructed from sandstone rubble with ashlar dressings. The bridge features an elliptical horseshoe arch made of voussoirs and a projecting keystone, along with an ashlar band below the parapet coping at the top of the parapet. The towpath is paved with setts, and there is a partially cobbled path leading up to the road, which includes steps. This bridge is part of a notable series of bridges and milestones along the Macclesfield Canal.
