Description
The Railway Station Hotel, a public house, dates from the late 18th century or early 19th century and has undergone later additions and alterations. It is constructed of coursed freestone, which is now painted, and stands two storeys high. The building features two sash windows set in keyed stone surrounds. Its simple character is somewhat diminished by a 19th-century projecting bay at the ground storey, which includes a pedimental feature, a wide arched porchway, and an inn window on each side. The right-hand side has a crow-stepped gabled end that extends into a castellated parapet on the rear wing, which is covered with tiles. On the left-hand side, there is a former coach house of similar design, though it appears to be of slightly earlier construction. This coach house has one window in a keyed stone surround, a similar window at the ground storey, a doorway with a rusticated arch and keyblock, a ledged door, iron bracketed eaves gutter, and old tiles.
