Description
The George and Dragon Hotel is a public house dating from the late 18th century. It features painted roughcast brick with a slate roof and consists of five bays across three storeys, with a carriage entry located in the first bay. The building has a stone plinth, a late 19th-century bracketed eaves cornice, and a steeply pitched roof. The carriage entry is highlighted by a segmental keystone arch, with a tripartite sash window positioned above it. There is a door in the fourth bay, which is sheltered by a late 19th-century canopy supported by paired Ionic columns, and a canted bay window in the fifth bay. The windows throughout the building alternate between paired and single sashes in the bays, totaling seven single and five paired, two of which lack glazing bars. The ground and first floor windows are adorned with tripartite keystones. The rear of the building has been significantly altered but still retains a round-headed stair window. The interior has also undergone considerable changes.
