Description

Newlands House is an early 19th-century house constructed from Flemish bond brick and topped with a slate roof. It features a stone plinth, an eaves cornice, a hipped roof, and sidewall stacks. The central door is recessed and has a semi-elliptical arch with a radial fanlight above it. On the ground floor, there are two windows, and on the first floor, there are three windows, all with flat brick arches, stone sills, and 16-pane sash windows, although one sash window is a 20th-century replacement. There are small additions at the rear that are of a similar date and character. The house was once the residence of the head gardener of Abney Hall.
