Description
No. 31 Broad Chare is a house, now used as offices, dating from around 1760. It is built of English garden wall bond brick with varying numbers of courses, featuring a rendered plinth and ashlar dressings, topped with a Welsh slate roof. The building has three storeys and two bays. There are steps leading to a four-panelled door with an overlight, which is set under a wedge stone lintel on the left side. The windows are sash style with glazing bars, and there are tripartite windows under a stretcher course on the ground and second floors. The building also has stone floor and eaves bands, along with a stone-coped parapet. The roof is irregular and hipped, with a brick chimney. This property is part of Trinity House, Newcastle, and the Secretary's room is located at the rear of the house.
