Description
No. 3 Athenaeum Street is a house, now used as offices, built around 1830. It is constructed of English garden wall bond brick with a rendered plinth and ashlar dressings, topped with a Welsh slate roof. The building has two storeys and features two windows. The central entrance consists of a flushed door with an overlight that has glazing bars, set in a panelled reveal. This door is possibly a Sunderland-type door that can be folded back, and it is framed by a doorcase with fluted Doric half columns and an entablature that includes shallow dentils and a prominent cornice. The plain sash windows are adorned with wedge stone lintels and projecting stone sills. The roof features a later 19th-century dormer that has a canted window and a hipped roof.
