Description
Trinity House Numbers 7 and 8, formerly almshouses and now offices and a bar, were built in 1782, as indicated on a panel. The building is constructed of painted brick and features a Welsh slate roof. It has two storeys and six bays. Each of the three central bays has a double door with four beaded panels and a four-pane overlight, all topped with pointed hoods. The tripartite sash windows, which have glazing bars and wide boxes, are adorned with brick lintels. The ground floor windows feature a semicircular center painted to imitate a Venetian window, while the blind windows above the doors are painted in trompe l'oeil. A central panel on the first floor lists the officers from 1782, the year the houses were built. Inside, there are cast iron kitchen ranges with floral decoration made by Heppell's foundry, and two-panelled doors throughout. The property has likely been associated with Trinity House since the 16th century.
