Description
Number 39, including the Hat Shop, is an early 19th-century building located on Market Street. It stands three storeys high and features three windows. The building has a slate roof with two brick chimneys and a rendered front. The upper floors have plate glass sash windows. The ground floor of No 39 has a modern shop front, while the mid-19th-century shop to the right includes two panelled pilasters, two fascia brackets, a dentil cornice above the fascia, and a three-light bay window to the right of the door. There is a through passage between the shops leading into Dodd's Lane. At the rear of Nos 39 and Cornmarket, there is a brick-built structure that is two storeys high with two windows facing Cornmarket, and three storeys with three windows for No 39, which retains a bow fronted shop window.
