Description

37 Market Street is an early 19th-century building, slightly set back between numbers 35 and 39. It is a three-story structure with two windows. The front is painted ashlar with a moulded carved cornice. The roof is slate, topped with two chimneys featuring ashlar bases on the right side. The windows are glazing bar sash windows, not regularly spaced to the right, and a casement window is on the first floor to the left. The ground floor has been completely modernized to create a Chinese restaurant, while a balcony with cast iron railings sits above it. A flush panel door provides access to the throughpassage on the left.

A three-story rendered extension exists to the rear, with three windows on the second floor and four on the first floor. A two-story outbuilding is at the back, belonging to number 4 St Michael’s Lane, and includes a half-segmental archway.
