Description
Nos. 148, 150, and 152 Market Street is a row of three shops with dwellings above, dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century, though altered over time. The buildings are finished in stucco over stone and feature a graduated slate roof. They are two storeys tall, with each having a single window on the first floor.
No. 150, located in the centre, is the least altered and is no longer a shop. It has a recessed door in an ashlar surround to the left of a 19th-century shop window, which has wooden pilasters and a cornice but is now fitted with two uPVC casements. Above, there is a casement window with a projecting stone sill and a painted surround.
No. 148, to the right, is similar but its shop window has been completely replaced by an aluminium casement. No. 152 features a ground floor dominated by a 20th-century plate-glass shop window with an integral door recess, while the first floor has a plain sash window. A brick ridge stack is located between Nos. 148 and 150. This row of shops adjoins Nos. 18-20 Tudor Square.
