Description

The war memorial in Dalton in Furness was unveiled on May 25, 1922, and is made of Portland limestone. It features a square plinth with diagonal buttresses, topped by a chamfered and tapered square column that has a moulded capital and a carved eternal flame. The plinth includes a dedication to the men of Dalton who lost their lives in the Great War, with their names displayed on plaques on the left and right sides. A plaque on the rear lists the names of those who died in World War II. The shaft is adorned with bronze swords and the inscription 'PRO PATRIA/ AD 1914-19'.
