Description
This early 19th-century building, originally a bank and now a hairdresser's, is located on Market Street in Dalton in Furness. The exterior is of scored stucco with a graduated slate roof. It is two storeys high with two windows on the first floor, and includes a wing to the rear right. A plinth runs along the base. A side passage on the left has old boarded doors beneath a basket arch. To the right of the passage is a renewed six-panel door set within a stone architrave, and next to that a tripartite sash window with a sill on blocks and a thin surround featuring colonnette mullions. The first floor windows are plain sashes with projecting stone sills in thin surrounds. An end stack is located on the party wall to the right. Inside, a part-glazed inner door is etched with the word 'BANK'.
