Description

This is a row of three houses that includes two shops, dating from the early 19th century and altered over time. The exterior is finished in scored stucco, topped with graduated slate and composition tile roofs. The buildings are two storeys high with an attic, featuring a window arrangement of 1:2:2 on the first floor.

No. 47, on the left, has a six-pane door to the right of a plain sash window, both framed by segmentally-arched surrounds. There is a narrower sash window on the first floor and a gabled roof dormer above.

No. 49 features a part-glazed six-panel door to the right of a tripartite sash window, with plain sashes above, all of which have segmental arches. There is a deep bay window on the ground floor to the right, which has 20th-century casements set in chamfered stone surrounds, along with a door on the right return. A four-light roof dormer is present as well.

No. 51 has a side-passage door on the left leading to a late 19th-century projecting shop front. This shop front features a part-glazed door set back between ornate cast-iron window surrounds, with foot panels displaying pointed arcading and columns topped with composite capitals, linked by pierced spandrel pieces. The corniced blind box above has iron cresting. The first floor has plain casement windows, and the front roof slope is dominated by a full-width roof dormer from the 20th century.

The row is adorned with ogee cast-iron gutters, and there are brick and rendered stacks at each end and on the ridge at the party walls.
