Description
The former Wesleyan Sunday School, now serving as a guide and scout hall, was built in 1896. It features snecked, squared limestone with red sandstone dressings and has a graduated slate roof. The building is single-storey and consists of three bays, with a full-width wing at the rear. It has a chamfered plinth and a central doorway with quoined edges and a shouldered lintel. Above the doorway, there is a plaque that reads 'WESLEYAN SUNDAY SCHOOL/ THIS STONE WAS LAID BY/ MR J S LAWN/ JULY 29th/ 1896'. The outer bays contain quoined cross-windows with 9-pane transom lights. Other notable features include an ogee cast-iron gutter, roll-moulded terracotta ridge tiles with ventilators, and a corniced end stack on the right side. On the right return, the windows match those on the front, and there is a gable slit along with a panelled double door that has an overlight. The building is included for its group value.
