8, Bondgate Without

No. 8 Bondgate Without is an 18th-century building that stands three storeys high and includes a cellar. The facade features three windows made of plain ashlar stone, topped by a slate roof with a coped verge and a footstone to the right. There are two shared brick chimneys and late glazed sash windows. The central doorway has a pointed bracketed hood and a six-panel door, with the top two panels made of bottle glass and the lower four raised and fielded. To the left, there is a round-headed doorway leading to No. 10 (Denwick Court). The interior may be part of an older house that has been refronted, as it is quite narrow. At the rear, there is a cobbled courtyard, which features a two-storey 18th-century cottage on the west side, built of rubble with large quoins and raised stone verges with triangular end stones. The north end of the courtyard is enclosed by an arcade that formerly led to a roofed stable, consisting of four segmental archways.
