Description
No. 9 Broad Street is a mid-18th century building featuring two storeys and attics, constructed in ashlar stone. It has a stone slate roof adorned with four cambered dormers and double-hung sash windows that include glazing bars. The building is topped with three moulded stone chimney stacks. It has two windows on the ground floor and four on the upper floor, all set in plain reveals with hung sashes, though the latter windows are of a later date than the house. A good moulded stone eaves cornice adds to its architectural detail. The ground floor has a stone plinth at cill level, which includes two basement windows. Access is provided by a modern four-panel door with a rectangular fanlight, reached by five stone steps. This building is part of a group that includes No. 1, railings and terrace to No. 1, No. 2, wall and gates to No. 2, Nos. 3, 4, Warden's House to No. 4, and Nos. 5 to 11 in succession.
