Description
No. 1 Ironmonger Street is a building dating from the late 17th century or early 18th century. It has two storeys and attics, constructed of ashlar with a roof made of stone slates. The building features one hipped dormer and a well-crafted moulded stone stack. A moulded stone cornice with ornamental modillions, all of early date, adorns the top. The corners are accentuated with rusticated ordered quoins. The roof extends from No. 37 Broad Street, and there are three windows with 19th-century glazing, which have moulded frames and cills. Above each window is an ornamental moulded stone set close to the cornice. The building also includes two small shop fronts with a mix of 19th-century and modern glazing, along with tiled stall risers. This property is part of a group that includes Nos. 1 to 6 (consecutive) and No. 6A.
