Description
No. 34 Broad Street is a building dating from 1671, located on the south side of Broad Street. It is a two-storey structure with attics set on a high basement. The exterior is rendered, and it features a stone slate mansard roof with two stone chimney stacks. A moulded wooden eaves cornice with dentils adds to its architectural detail.
The building has two sloped dormers, each containing double-hung sash windows with glazing bars. There are two canted bays that extend through all storeys, with each bay featuring three double-hung sash windows with glazing bars. The central entrance is accessed by six stone steps and is framed by a fine wooden doorcase that includes fluted pilasters, an ornamented frieze, a fluted and dentilled cornice, and a pediment. The railings at the front of the building are modern.
Nos. 31 to 34 Broad Street and the Old Technical School form a group of buildings of historical significance.
