Description
The Old Technical School, built in 1894, is a two-storey building constructed from ashlar stone with a stone slate roof. It features a moulded cornice and a small parapet. At the gable ends, there are two stone chimney stacks. The façade includes two groups of three windows that flank a long window set in a moulded surround with a keystone. A moulded string course runs between the storeys, and there are six similar windows on the ground floor. The central window extends into a modified gable topped with a pediment that has small acroteria and a date stone. The doorway is adorned with a scrolled wooden pediment that has the inscription 'School of Art' above panelled pilasters, which are complemented by carved upper panels. Above the double doors, which consist of six fielded panels, is a semi-circular fanlight. The entrance also features a shield as a keystone, carved spandrels, and a plinth. The Old Technical School, along with Nos 31 to 34, forms a cohesive group.
