Description
31 Broad Street is a mid-17th century building with two storeys and attics, constructed in ashlar. It features a stone slate roof with two hipped dormers that have casements without glazing bars. The building has one stone chimney stack and one brick chimney stack on a stone base. There are two widely spaced windows with flush frames, double-hung sashes that include glazing bars. The eaves cornice is coved and plastered.
On the ground floor, there is a notable late 18th-century shop window that is slightly bayed, flanked by end pilasters adorned with delicate egg and dart moulding. An additional pilaster is located beside the door, which is a double door mainly glazed and set in a moulded stone frame. To the right, there is a canted three-light bay window with 19th-century glazing. The building also includes a passage arch.
Nos 31 to 34 and the Old Technical School are part of a group of buildings.
