Description
Number 18 on Broad Street is a late 18th-century building featuring two storeys and attics, constructed from coursed rubble with stone dressings. The stone slate roof has two modern flat-topped dormers. Notable architectural details include a moulded stone eaves cornice and a small parapet, along with a small plinth. The façade has two windows set within rusticated architraves that feature a triple keystone, and the windows are double-hung sashes with glazing bars. The end sections of the building project slightly and are accentuated with rusticated quoins. There are two doors, each with four panels, located in round-headed recesses that include a keystone and impost blocks. The door on the right leads to number 19. This front is a later addition to an earlier house, and there is a band between the storeys. The building is part of a group that includes the Roman Catholic Church of St Augustine, the school, the wall and gate piers to the church, and numbers 14, 15, and 17 to 22, which are all consecutive.
