Description
22 Broad Street is a building dating from the 18th century, located on the north side of Broad Street. It is partly concealed behind No 21 and has two storeys with a rendered exterior. The roof is made of stone slates and features a brick chimney. The building has two windows on the upper floor, one with a single light and the other with three lights, both are double-hung sashes with glazing bars set in moulded surrounds. On the ground floor, there is one small fixed window with glazing bars and one three-light window. The entrance door has seven panels, two of which are glass, and is framed by a wooden architrave. The building also has a plinth.
22 Broad Street is part of a group that includes the Roman Catholic Church of St Augustine, the school, the wall and gate piers to the church, as well as Nos 14, 15, and Nos 17 to 22, which are consecutive. It also forms a group with the Congregational Church and the premises formerly occupied by T Gibson and Sons on Star Lane.
