Description
The farm buildings located 20 meters west of Black Hall Farmhouse were constructed in the early 19th century. They are made of coursed rubble with tooled-and-margined quoins and dressings, topped with stone slate roofs, except for the slate on the west side of the east range. The buildings are arranged around a rectangular yard, which is closed off on the south by lower structures.
The north range, which serves as shelter sheds with a granary above, is two stories high and consists of five bays. It features an arcade of segmental arches, most of which are blocked, except for the central arch that provides access to the yard. Above the arcade, there are slatted windows. At the rear, there are two pent pigsties located to the west of the entrance, along with later additions to the east that are not of interest.
The east range, which includes a byre and hayloft, has a boarded door set in an alternating-block surround, an old 12-pane casement window, and slit vents on the first floor. The west range, functioning as a barn, displays two stable doors in alternating-block surrounds and slit vents. At the rear, there is a circular gingang with openings between piers that are largely walled up, topped with a conical roof supported by a heavy tie-beam.
On the south side of the yard, there is a pair of byres with stable doors, and to the right, a lower cart shed features a three-bay open front supported by broad timber posts, although part of the roof was missing at the time of the survey.
