Description

This is a range of farm buildings located on the west side of the road, likely dating from the 16th century, with the western part from the 18th century. The structure is built of rubble with stone dressings; the western section has a stone slate roof, while the rest has an asbestos roof and features brick stacks. It is two storeys high and consists of five bays arranged irregularly.

The two-bay 18th-century section on the left has a boarded door with a four-pane sash window to the left, and smaller windows above, one of which is blocked. The right end stack is made of old brick, while the left stack has been rebuilt in brick on a projecting stone base. The older section features a vertical-panelled door set in a two-centred hollow-chamfered arch in the central bay, with boarded doors in the flanking bays, the right one framed in a flat-pointed chamfered surround. The building has scattered fenestration, including blocked mullioned windows on the ground floor. The right return displays a slit vent, and the rear elevation shows an outshut to the 18th-century part and a former two-light timber-frame window to the left.

This range is traditionally associated with Hexham Priory, and the older part shows evidence of several phases of construction.
