Description

A planned group of farmbuildings dating from around 1830, with alterations in the 19th century. The buildings are constructed of roughly squared stone with cut dressings, and have brick chimney stacks. The roofs are covered in Welsh slate. The ranges are arranged around a yard that is open to the south.

A central north barn projects to the rear, featuring a gingang (later an engine house) on the east side. A later 19th-century range projects into the yard to the south of the barn. The north range is single storey with lofts, and has three elliptical-headed arches on each side of the barn, with part-slatted windows above those to the left. The projecting range has a part-slatted window in the south end, and a hipped roof. Stable doors and part-slatted windows are visible on the east and west ranges.

An attached cottage sits at the south end of the east range. Its south elevation has two storeys and two bays, with six steps leading up to a boarded door with a two-pane overlight in the left bay, and four-pane sash windows in the right bay. A brick stack is located at the right end. A flat-coped wall with a central entrance closes the south side of the yard, attached to the left of the cottage. The south end of the west range connects to the Town Farmhouse.

On the rear elevation, a projecting threshing barn has a circular gingang on the left. It is supported by four stone piers, with later infill consisting of sixteen-pane Yorkshire sashes, and covered by a conical roof. Behind the gingang, a tall tapered chimney has a flat stone cap. Modern metal sheds are located in the west part of the yard, behind the north range. A Dutch barn is located behind the east range but is not of particular interest.
