Description
The farm buildings to the north of Meldon Lane House date from the early 19th century, with some alterations made in the mid-19th century. They are constructed from rubble with stone dressings, except for the cartsheds, which are made of tooled stone with tooled-and-margined dressings. The roofs are primarily slate, except for the pigsty, which has stone slates. The buildings are arranged in three ranges around a rectangular farmyard that opens to the south.
The north range includes shelter sheds with a granary above. The right side features a turnip shed with a hayloft, while the left side has two segmental-headed cart entrances. The west range contains a stable with a threshing barn to the right, and a lower mid-19th century cartshed with two segmental-headed arches to the left. There is a mounting block by the stable, and the left return of the stable displays an open-pedimented gable. At the rear of the barn, there is a gingang with squared stone piers and a conical roof. The short east range consists of a byre with a loft and a double lean-to pigsty against the gable end.
