Description

April Cottage, located on the Green in Romaldkirk, dates from the late 18th to early 19th century. It is constructed of squared snecked sandstone, with a stone-flagged roof and stone chimney stacks.

The cottage is two storeys high with three bays. It features tooled quoins. The central doorway has been replaced, along with the overlight, and is set within a tooled surround. There is a blank bay above the door. New 12-pane sashes with projecting sills have replaced the original windows. The roof has coped gables. The end stacks have top ledges and water tables. A two-storey rear addition, dating to the 20th century, is not of particular architectural interest.

The cottage is included on the list for its group value.
