Description
Ivy Cottage is a cottage that likely dates from the early 19th century and has undergone some later alterations. It is constructed from sandstone rubble with roughly-dressed quoins and features a pantiled roof with two rendered brick gable stacks. The front of the cottage has a central 20th-century glazed door set within an open timber porch. To the left and right of the door are large fixed lights with 16 panes, each having horizontal sliding sections with 6 panes, raised sills, and flush lintels. The first floor features a blank central bay and 12-pane horizontal sliding sash windows on either side, which have monolithic jambs and deep reveals. There is an external stack on the left gable and a single-storey outshut at the rear. The roof has a moderate pitch with swept eaves and a slightly-raised verge on the left. The cottage is included for its group value.
