Description

This is a late 18th-century cottage located on Church Street, Lancaster. It is constructed of roughly coursed sandstone rubble, likely once rendered, with ashlar dressings. The roof is covered in stone slate. There are no chimney caps, and any flues likely enter the stacks of the adjacent taller buildings. The cottage has a double-depth plan and two low storeys above a cellar. It features two bays with coupled doorways in the left-hand bay; the left doorway leads to a yard, while the right doorway provides access to the house. Both doorways have plain stone surrounds. The windows are 12-pane sashes in plain stone surrounds, with raised lintels. The doors have six raised and fielded panels. The rear and interior of the property were not inspected. The building is listed for its group value.
