Description
The Training Office is an early 19th-century house located in Durham and Framwellgate Old Elvet. It is constructed of pinkish brick in English garden wall bond, with a rendered plinth and a Welsh slate roof featuring rendered stacks. The building stands three storeys high and has two slightly irregular bays.
The entrance is off-centre, featuring a six-panel door set within an architrave that includes a reeded frieze, a bracketed cornice, and a pediment. The windows are adorned with wedge stucco lintels and have projecting stone sills; the first-floor right window is tripartite with glazing bars. There are chimneys at both ends of the building.
The forecourt is enclosed by plain wrought iron railings that have trellis piers topped with palmette finials, and there is a central gate along with a lampholder at the left end.
