Description

This is a mid-18th century house located on the east side of Church Street in Durham and Framwellgate. The exterior is incised stucco with a painted plinth and ashlar dressings, topped by a Welsh slate roof with brick chimneys. The house is three storeys high, with three bays. The central entrance features a six-panel door with an overlight, recessed within a deep reveal and framed by an architrave and bracketed hood. The windows on the ground, first, and third floors have wedge stone lintels and projecting stone sills. Most of the windows have 20th-century glazing, apart from a sash window with glazing bars on the second floor to the left. Chimneys are located between the first two bays and at the right end of the roof. Inside, an open-string staircase has a moulded round handrail, and the upper flight of the balustrade features a wavy rail.
