Description
29B Church Street is a house that has been converted into flats, dating from the late 17th century to early 18th century. The ground floor features painted incised stucco, while the upper floor is covered in painted pebble-dash render. There is a painted ashlar plinth and dressings. The roof is made of graduated Lakeland slates and has a brick chimney. The building is two storeys tall, with the second storey being low and consists of three bays.
The entrance features a six-panel door located between the first and second windows, set in a panelled reveal with a pedimented architrave. On the ground floor, there are three-light 20th-century transomed windows with deep reveals and architraves that have thin sills. The cross windows above have sill bands and slightly break the eaves. The roof rises over these windows, and there is a chimney at the left end. Above the door, there is a Durham coat of arms. The building is marked as No. 28B on the Ordnance Survey map.
