Description

This mid-18th century house, now converted into flats, is located on the east side of Church Street in Durham and Framwellgate. The building is constructed of painted incised stucco with a painted ashlar plinth and dressings, and has a Welsh slate roof with brick chimneys. It is three storeys high and five bays wide. The central entrance features a six-panel door with a patterned overlight, set within a large doorcase of fluted surround with corner paterae, an architrave, Tuscan pilasters, a triglyph frieze, and a prominent cornice. The sash windows have glazing bars and projecting stone sills. A hipped roof incorporates two wide chimneys located to the rear of the ridge.
