Description
Willow Green Farmhouse and the attached byres are a late 18th-century structure featuring lofts. The building is constructed from roughly coursed and squared sandstone, with pecked quoins and tooled ashlar dressings, some made of millstone grit. It has a graduated stone-flagged roof topped with yellow brick chimneys and is designed in an L-plan.
The farmhouse is two stories high with three bays. The right side has a two-story byre with three wide bays, along with a one-story, two-bay projecting wing. The farmhouse has a central 20th-century door set in a raised stone surround. The windows have been renewed and feature flat stone lintels and slightly projecting stone sills, with the right ground-floor window being louvred. There are two corniced end chimneys with squat tapered square pots.
The adjoining byres and lofts are set back and have plain stone surrounds for the boarded doors, one of which is blocked and has a window inserted. Above each door are boarded loft doors, and there are flat stone lintels over glazed lights on the ground floor, with slit vents above. The wing that projects forward contains two loose boxes, which have Dutch doors and windows with glazing bars, all under low single-pitched roofs. There is a pent corrugated addition of one story and one bay in the angle between the house and the byre, which is not of interest.
