Description
The Frosterley Inn is a mid-18th century inn located on Front Street in Stanhope, Frosterley. It features painted incised stucco with painted chamfered quoins and ashlar dressings, and has a plinth that is partly obscured by plants. The roof is made of Welsh slate and includes brick chimneys. The building has three storeys and three bays, with the first bay being wider. There is a step up to a 20th-century central door that is framed by an architrave under a pulvinated frieze and cornice. The ground and first floors have raised stone surrounds with plain sash windows, while the top floor features smaller sashes with glazing bars. The steeply-pitched roof has swept eaves and end chimneys. On the rear elevation, there is a two-light single-chamfered stone-mullioned window.
