Description

21 High Street is a three-storey building constructed of brick and finished with painted stucco bands and dressings, topped with a natural slate roof. The building has a double depth plan with the entrance now located on the left side. The front facade features three windows, with the ground floor showcasing an aluminium and brick shopfront that includes a three-pane window, a door to the left, and a door leading to the upstairs at the far left. There is a brick fascia and stucco bands at the first floor cill level and second floor level, along with a strip pilaster on the right side only.

On the first floor, there are six over six pane sash windows with keyed heads, while the second floor has three over six pane windows, with the central window being a blind recess. The building has an eaves band and a plain low pitch roof.

The rear elevation facing St. John's Lane is made of rendered stonework and also features a natural slate roof. This side of the building has two storeys and includes two small casement windows on the ground floor. There is one door on the left, which has a possibly 16th-century cranked stone head, but it is a modern door. There is a blocked doorway on the right. The upper floor is currently blind, with a previously reported window now rendered over.

The interior was not inspected during the resurvey, but it is noted that the ground floor is from the late 20th century.
