Description

7B Nevill Street is a three-storey brick building, now colourwashed, featuring decorative bands at the first and second floor levels and a quoin pilaster on the left side. It has a Welsh slate roof with a red brick chimney stack. The building has a double depth plan with a central entrance and three windows on the front facade. The entrance includes a six-fielded panelled door within a panelled doorcase, adorned with console brackets, an open pediment, and panelled reveals. The windows have segmental arched heads and 6 over 6 pane sash designs, while the smaller second-floor windows feature 3 over 6 panes, with the top left window replaced by a casement. The exterior is finished with a cornice, a parapet, and a plain roof, with a gable stack on the left side and a parallel range roof visible on the left return.

The rear elevations are fully rendered and painted, showing signs of alterations from various periods. Most of the rear windows are early 19th century, featuring 8 over 8 pane sashes on the ground and top floors of the rear wing, alongside a mid-19th century oriel window on the first floor with a 3 over 3 pane sash, and a 4-light steel casement on the top floor. The main range's rear has two 6 over 6 pane sashes with elliptical heads, and there is a tall brick stack on the rear wing.

Inside No. 7B, there are clear indications of its mid-18th century origins, particularly visible in the main staircase. The entrance hall features dado panelling with a mahogany chair rail and elliptically headed arches at the base of the stair compartment. The staircase, which may have undergone some alterations, has an open-well design with three turned balusters on each step, an open string with scrolled step ends, and a mahogany rail and newels; however, these may actually be stained pine to match the dado. The rear room on the right has full-height painted panelling. The upper floors were not inspected during the resurvey, but there have been 20th-century alterations noted.
