Description
11 Nevill Street is a two-storey building with an attic, constructed in painted stucco. The ground floor features rusticated detailing, including a plinth, a floor-band, and long and short chamfered quoins, topped by a natural slate roof. The building has a double depth central entrance plan with a long rear wing. On the first floor, there are five windows, and the entrance is marked by an eight-fielded-panelled door flanked by fluted pilasters, an enriched frieze, and a pediment. To the right of the entrance are two windows, and to the left is one window and an additional door leading to the back premises. All windows are 6 over 6 pane sashes with slight architraves. The cornice features fluting and dentils, and there is a lead rainwater head downpipe on the left side. The plain roof includes three flat-headed dormers with casement windows and large brick stacks on either gable.
The rear elevation showcases a large gable with a tall 4 over 4 pane sash on the first floor and a small casement window in the apex. To the left, there is a long gabled range extending down the garden, rendered and featuring two storeys with five windows, including 6 over 6 pane and 8 over 8 pane sashes, along with some later additions. A 6 over 6 pane sash is located in the gable end, while the rear wall is blind and has a steeply pitched roof with two tall brick stacks.
The ground floor features suggest a late 18th-century date. The right-hand front room has full-height plaster panelling and a possibly introduced neo-classical fireplace. The staircase is open-well with two turned balusters per step, scrolled tread ends, and a ramped handrail. Although stained to resemble mahogany, the staircase is likely made of pine. The interior of the rear wing was not observed.
