Description
The boundary wall and entrance gateway of St John's Masonic Lodge is a Grade II listed structure. It features a random red sandstone rubble wall with a Gothic arched gateway, which includes modern ironwork in the arch and timber gates. The wall connects to the Master's Study and extends on both sides of the entrance gate. It stands approximately 2.75 meters high, which may include a heightening, while the gateway itself rises an additional meter. The gateway is constructed from Forest of Dean semi-ashlar stone and has a sharply pointed head filled with 20th-century ironwork. The double plank doors are fitted with iron strap hinges. The interior face of the gateway indicates clear rebuilding, with the arch and quoins made from glazed red Cattybrook brick.
