41 Monnow Street

41 Monnow Street is a three-storey building with a double depth plan, featuring a street frontage made of painted render over brick. The facade includes incised coursing, long and short quoins, and a patterned band above the first floor, topped with a Welsh slate roof. The ground floor has a late 20th-century shopfront that has a character reminiscent of the 19th century. The first floor has six over six pane sash windows with a keyed head, while the second floor has three over six pane sashes. The roof has a hipped gable end without an eaves course.

At the rear, it is said to have a slated cross-gable range of box-frame construction, which has been refaced in partly rendered red brick. This section features a 2-light casement window in the gable and modern windows below, although this was not observed during the resurvey in July 2004.

The interior was not inspected, but it is reported to have structural elements such as heavy wall plates and side purlins, along with stop-chamfered detailing and a full depth main beam over the ground floor. There is an A-frame gable end with vertical braces, and cast-iron columns are present in the interior of the opened-out shop front.
